Our Pastor’s Profile

When Rev Bernard Ong was born again in 1966 at the tender age of 16, he started attending an AOG church known as Bethel Church in Melaka. After his secondary school, the Lord provided him a job as a bank clerk in Banque De L’Indochine in 1971. Subsequently, he was promoted to be a bank officer by the grace of God. A couple of years down the line, he took an assistant manager post with Malayan United Finance Berhad and upon confirmation was promoted to be a manager in a brand new branch in Petaling Jaya for two years before being transferred to the Main Branch in Kuala Lumpur.

All these times, while he was serving in Calvary Church, Kuala Lumpur, the Lord was using him as an evangelism & follow-up leader, worship leader, ushering head, christian education teacher, cell leader and church deacon. In early 1983 when he responded to the Lord’s call, his pastor invited him to be a ministerial staff of the Church with the portfolio of spiritual life director overseeing the evangelism, follow-up, visitation and counseling works of the church while at the same time coordinating Calvary Charismatic Fellowship, a lunch hour fellowship in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. In 1985 he joined Charis Christian Centre in Cheras as an assistant pastor in the English department. In late 1987, he was invited to be an one of the associate pastors of Glad Tidings Assembly, Petaling Jaya. Subsequently, he became the main pastor of the church until 1991 when he stepped down to do his theological studies in Bible College of Malaysia. In November,1993 by the grace of God, he graduated with a Diploma in Theology. In 1994 with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he pioneered Hosanna Praise Assembly in Subang Jaya. While pioneering, the Lord also enabled him to take part-time study which resulted in his graduating with a Bachelor in Theology in 1996. Subsequently few years down the line, he felt led to take up part-time study and in March, 2005 he graduated with a Master in Arts in Ministry with the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, Baguio City, Philippines. Praise the Lord that it is the grace of God that enables him in all things !

Under his pastoral leadership and together with a few couples, Hosanna Praise Assembly was pioneered as a Preaching Point on November 09th 1994. Approximately a year later, It was upgraded to a Home Mission Church on October 02nd, 1995. Since then, Hosanna Praise Assembly has pioneered Hosanna Mission Church in Naurak Village and Hosanna Mission Church in Anboo Khaireni Village in Nepal and has also helped these two new outreaches buy a piece of land each to build their church buildings accordingly. And in recent years Hosanna Praise Assembly has also pioneered Hosanna Praise Assembly in Klang and Hosanna Praise Assembly in Kajang. In Hosanna Priase Assembly, Subang Jaya we have various Language Services such as English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and Nepalese Services on Sunday.

Basically, our Church Vision is "To bring people to Christ by reaching them with the Gospel so that they may be born again into the family of God, growing as disciples of Christ and being equipped and empowered for ministry, thus fulfilling the Great Commission of World Mission in order to extend the Kingdom of God and magnify His Name through the establishment of Hosanna Praise Assemblies." Our Mission Statement is "To reach the world with the Gospel by planting churches in the cities, towns villages and beyond." Our Objectives are "Practical Christian Living, Loving Family Life, Church Planting and Community Services."

At present our combined Sunday attendances for our various services in Hosanna Praise Assembly in Subang Jaya is around 350.

Sensing that the Lord has raised him up to be a great blessing in the Kingdom of God, Pastor Bernard is also available for ministries from time to time in God’s perfect timing.
